Life in DKIT

How time flies! It has been three years since I came to DKIT. In the three years, many things have happened. I also meet a lot of friends here.

Three years is not too long for man's life. But the three years I lived on campus has changed me a lot. For example, from the day I was born to the day I went to school, I had never left home alone for a long time and do housework by myself. How to deal with my roommates and classmates? These questions were all difficult for me to work out at that time. Today I get on well with them and do everything in life calmly. But all these changes were not easy for me. Sometimes I feel lonely, angry and also homesick. But fortunately I meet a lot of good friends. They helped me spend these sad days. I find words cannot express my sincere thanks to them. When they need help, I will do everything I can to help those who helped me before.

Graduation Day

As everybody knows, the life in college is of great difference from that in high school. You don’t have to spend all your energy on your study. You will have much more spare time when entering college. There are plenty of clubs organized in DKIT, such as Irish dancing club, Basketball club, Film club etc. You can join which you are interested in so as to make your life in DKIT lovely and interesting.

Sales Department

I love the campus, in which the landscape was so beautiful and the study atmosphere was so good, we always studied there along with relaxation. I majored in Hospitality Management; I had an internship in year 2 which is meaningful for me. I worked as a sales co-coordinator in Crowne Plaza Zhongguancun Beijing where I learnt a lot. The experience was really amazing and unforgettable.

DKIT is not only a place where you can learn something useful from textbooks, but also a place where you can improve your ability to communicate with others. Don’t be shy or nervous. All you have to do is speaking louder when you are standing before a great many people. People in DKIT whatever teachers or students were very nice. You don’t need to worry about your have poor English, what you have to do is just talk with them. I do really like all my classmates and we always have nice chat, they are vey humor and like to talk with you.

   

As far as I can see, self-control is one of the most important characters you ought to have. Maybe some students believe that they can play all day long without anything to do. If you really think that the life in college is full of freedom and you can do whatever you want to do, you will make a great mistake. ”Life is not easy for everybody, especially for those who hopes to lead a happy life”. You have to try your best to learn and to pass exams in order to make your life become better and better with time going on. Make sure that you will not kill the time listening to the popular music or seeing the latest films.

Everything in college will be my great memory in my life forever.

Overseas research and practice have proved that a good website is user-centric, the presentation of its information and structure is consistent with the user's cognitive patterns and behavior, the interface is humanism and the appearance is attractive, and it’s easy to learn, easy to finish, communicate more quickly and accurately, provide user a positive feel and high satisfaction.

The effect of Apple’s Web site ensures that the page’s blank is useable and is easy to attract Web surfers to browse. The style is consistent throughout the website and the navigation bar at the top of the page is for each individual and is consistent.

The appearance of Apple's website is simple, not too much complicated things in order to prevent the website being blocked.

  

3.     Searching is accurate and fast

The result of Microsoft’s search is a large list, similar to Google search results.

Apple is the real-time search, the results have a big category, according to different needs will do the sub-screening.

 

Above all, only consider the availability, Apple is perfect. The design of their home page is better, fewer options to reduce the users thinking. They have a same navigation bar on each page, with a lot of blank space and sub-titles to improve readability. It maintains the simplicity of their page and there is no excessive use of word processing effects.

Apple's Web site is much smaller than the Microsoft website. Microsoft.com has many different websites and section, creating a sub-site of entire ecosystems. Each site is filled with a plenty of information and the LiveSearch core search.

Censorship

What is Censorship? Censorship is the suppression of ideas and information that certain persons -- individuals, groups or government officials -- find objectionable or dangerous. Censors try to use the power of the state to impose their view of what is truthful and appropriate, or offensive and objectionable, on everyone else. Censors pressure public institutions, like libraries, to suppress and remove from public access information they judge inappropriate or dangerous, so that no one else has the chance to read or view the material and make up their own minds about it. The censor wants to prejudge materials for everyone.

In China, many people have never heard of Facebook, even though people use the Internet every day. Although the overseas student knows the Facebook but we cannot access it in China because the Facebook is censored. Not only the Facebook but there are kinds of information or software was censored by the Chinese government.

The Internet penetration in China is not as great as it is in Europe or North America. China's Internet penetration was at 31 percent compared to 77 percent of the U.S., according to Internet World Stats. Still, there are a lot of people in China has no chance the touch the computer. The high Internet penetration rate is just in big cities; some residents rarely visit the Web and were not familiar with its censorship.

Although China has the world's largest Internet population, at 457 million users, the country also strictly censors the Web. The government blocks websites that have content deemed inappropriate or too politically sensitive. Popular U.S. sites such as Facebook, Twitter and YouTube have all been targeted by censors and are currently inaccessible from within the country.

There's a lot of information we have no way of gaining access to. We don't really know what's going on. Web censorship is part of China's control over information flow, including the news and television.

Some people in China may say they support China's Internet censorship because it helps maintain a stable society. Someone think that if uneducated people or people with extreme views may abuse the information on the Web to try and influence others.

I think a lot of people don't know about the censorship. I think they just feel this is the reality. If you've never gone abroad, you might not know what the world is really like.

My Hometown-Beijing

Beijing, situated on the northern edge of the North China plain, is my hometown and the place where I was born. I love Beijing not only for I am leading a happy life in it but also for I am interested in this charming and great city.

As a citizen of Beijing, I am glad to have a chance to introduce this great and old city to everybody, as well as, I believe that everyone will be crazy for this city, on the grounds that classic architectures, delicious foods, wonderful tourist attractions, the enthusiasm of habitants and so on.

In my eyes, Beijing is a book. Thousands of history and splendid Chinese cultures make it a famous city around the world. Form the ancient times, it was one of the most important city in north of China, so it had been the capital of several dynasties in the past, such as Liao, Jin, Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties in ancient and contemporary Chinese history, which let it have royal style and be full of appeals all the time. All the things happened during the process of the long history has been recorded in this book using diligence and intelligence by generations. So I want to say that we are reading the history of developments of Chinese civilization when we have a touch with the history of Beijing.

In my opinions, Beijing is a wonderful and vivid painting, which demonstrate the beauties and splendors. After thousands years, it owns a great deal of historical attractions, such as the Great Wall, the Forbidden City, the Summer Palace, the Temple of Heaven, the Ming Tombs and the like. Everyone coming from other cities and countries to Beijing will visit these historical sites and relic places in order to have memorable experiences.



Green Building



For my part, Beijing is the pulsatile flame. As we know, Beijing obtained the right to hold the Summer Olympic Games in 2008; all the people around the world paid their attentions to this old city and looked forward to seeing the larruping sport event. I remembered clearly that the Tiananmen Square and Chang'an Avenue were crowded with many excited Chinese people and Beijing was the ocean of jubilation with cheers, as were the main streets in other cities in China. Since that time, Beijing has been developing at a remarkable speed and the gymnasiums and facilities for the Olympic Games are under construction.

  

Nowadays, all the people living in Beijing, no matter the Chinese or the foreigners, are contributing their energies to the constructions and developments of it with the whole enthusiasm and anticipations. So I think that Beijing is a huge wheel strolling toward at a faster and unparalleled speed.

Now I am a student in university and I hope that I could take advantage of all the things that I have learned in school to contribute myself to the development of Beijing when I graduate from campus. I also wish that it would have a wonderful tomorrow and more people coming from other countries will come here and have unforgotten experiences, which making them understand Beijing better and understand our nation better.

Beijing is my hometown and I love it forever!

Web Standards

To be honest, my knowledge of web standards is very limited. I have nothing to know what this is about. So i had some research on this term and the notes which from the lecturer gave me a lot of help to understand the web standards. Now I will share my knowledge with you.

Web Standards is a general term for the formal standards and other technical specifications that define and describe aspects of the World Wide Web. To make internet a better place, for both developers and end-users, it is important that both browsers and Web developers follow the Web standards. Using web standards will help to ensure that display properly, easier to convert to other formats, and easier to access.

Web Standards make it easier for people with disabilities to use the web. Blind people can use computer that read web pages for them.

W3C's mission is to lead the Web to its full potential, which it does by developing specifications, guidelines, software, and tools.

Technology Fast

Modern times have given us great things like cell phone and the Internet, which didn't happen in the past. Technology plays an important part in our daily life. It has made our life easier and more comfortable. So live without technology might be a challenge for most of us. For the past two days, I just have a try. Now I would like to share my experience with you!

I abstain from use of cell phone, e-mail and the Internet. I have to say that give up these three things for two days is an unbearable painful experience. My cell phone is my best friend. Without it I instantly had no way to communicate with my parents and friends. When I become very comfortable with having the modern conveniences it is extremely rough when they are not there. For give up the e-mail, I don't even know what might be happen on the new week. Such as is there any class cancelled or any reading materials I need to go through first before the class. Things like that. Every time when I saw my laptop on the desk but I couldn't access to the Internet is really annoys me.

In case I have compiled a list of things to do to pass my time.
Play football- with my friend to go to the JJB
Writing assignments- it really easy to sit and just writing without distraction
Playing cards- play with my roommates
Computer- most computers do come with games that we can play without being connected to the Internet

Spring in Beijing

Throughout the spring months (March to May) temperatures in Beijing rise quickly day to day. It also vary greatly (around 12℃-14℃ ) between day and night. Spring is a windy, dry season, frequented by heavy sandstorm. Cold winds are also frequent throughout spring months. In early spring, the temperature may drop abruptly. Sandstorm hits Beijing frequently in spring and may delay trips.

Spring is the time for outdoor activities, the following attractions are best visited in Beijing in the spring: Xiaotangshan Base attracts tourists with hundreds of vegetables and fruits which can be picked by the visitors personally. Another destination would be the Beihai Park which is the best preserved loyal garden of China with a history of nearly 1,000 years. The Cherry Blossom Festival of Yuyuantan Park should not be missed. Shijingshan Amusement Park at the south foot of West Mountain Scenic Area, is a good destination for families.

Social Media

Twitter and Facebook are gaining in popularity, however, with about 50% of online users are now active on Facebook as well. The most popular social media sites in China  like kaixin001 and renren are used by many people. Facebook has forbidden by Chinese government. This is the reason why most chinese people do not play Facebook. In Germany, the most popular social media site is StudiVz.

Around the world today, the amount of time spent online is increasing exponentially, especially among cell phone users.
